Simply Tempted

It's my birthday today so it's only fitting that I write about something festive for this special day. I say cupcakes. Cupcakes scream birthday right? These cupcakes are special though. They are cupcake bath bombs! If I have to spoil myself this is the way to do it!

Simply Tempted is the business with these delightful looking bombs and they are even participating in our January bath/body and candle box so prepare yourself for some super great stuff in your Little Black Box that month. I was drooling just looking at all their goodies so I'm pretty excited to see what they send in to tease you all too.

Decadent cupcake bath bombs are a rich treat for your skin, and just scream pamper me worship me I am fabulous and I deserve it. Crumble one under running water and watch it gently fizz into the water creating a moisturizing whirlpool that will leave your skin soft as the day you were born. Plus, they are super cute!

I think I fell in love all over this morning. Except I didn't actually fall in love with a person. I fell in love with an item that perhaps one day I can purchase for a person!

Finger print wedding bands! I don't know why I find this idea so sexy. It just is. There's nothing better then having a piece of someone you love with you at all times so why not incorporate that somehow into your wedding day? Are you and your significant other simple and don't need a bunch of frills? See, I always felt frilly but now after seeing these rings from Fabuluster I think I might be a little less frilly.

They send you an impression kit in the mail. Once you receive it, imprint the entire length of your finger and/or your fianc├ęs finger separately. Then you mail that back to them and then a wax form from the impression material is made. Pretty cool! Maybe some day this ring gets passed down to your children- a family heirloom for sure. How romantic! Your lover touching you, holding your finger, always with you.

Grumpy Girl Giveaway

Right after Thanksgiving I learned that Grumpy Girl was having a huge sale online and since I had a bit of cash to spend I jumped right on their site and bought a bar of their Pink Grapefruit & Tangerine soap. It was my 1st first at Grumpy Girl and I really couldn't wait to get it.

It's been sitting on my desk for about a week now and I keep getting whiffs of it and finally I decided that today was the day I would write about this amazing little bar of soap and also tell you that I have an extra bar that I'm going to give away unselfishly. Sure, I could toss it in with the kids when they are in the bath after they run out of what they are using currently but I'd much rather share the wealth and make a few friends along the way.

I don't have a picture of this baby but it's a beautiful orange color and huge too! You could probably cut this in 1/2 and have double the uses it's that big. The label says it's 4.5 ounces, so gigantic!

Brenda’s Beads and More is in the Box!

The little blue angel beaded ornament I got from Brenda’s Beads and More in December TLBB went right on the front of my tree. It may be small, but it is oh-so-cute. Her Etsy store has a lot more cute, non-Christmas items, and a lot of them are blue – my favorite color for accessories. I am hearting these Long Triple Triangles with Blue Swirl Earrings.

Flower Peddler

Flower Peddler screams professional. If they don't then you need to wipe those eyes because I've never met a business who wasn't as professional looking at this business. They've been around for quite a while and most recently I started hearing more of a buzz online about them in forums and stuff. I'm actually really happy for them. It's about freakin' time!

I took a peek at their shop on Etsy today and was happy to see that they are carrying cute baby and kid bath products now.  Many of us have children in our lives so why not spoil them a bit! The Little Buds shea butter baby lotion most likely is a great product to start with.

It's mild and moisturizing with natural ingredients for baby's skin. Containing shea butter, certified organic jojoba and sunflower oils, aloe vera, herbal extracts, and antioxidants gentle enough for the most delicate skin. What you won't find are parabens, artificial fragrances, or dyes. Lightly scented with soothing organic lavender, mandarin, and chamomile essential oils. Moms will love this lotion too as it softens her skin while she gives baby a gentle massage.

Knob Creek Metal Arts

I found Knob Creek Metal Arts over the summer when I was looking for a key rack for my home in Arizona and then just recently I was looking at the business again and I found something that totally reminded me of one of my best girlfriends Christine.

I miss Christine. I have fond memories of her in college. She was always so upbeat and just the light of my day and I haven't been a good friend over the years because I've been so wrapped up in my own personal drama that when Chrissy was in town from her travels I never had time to spend with her. I did belong to her mailing list and would get amazing emails of her back packing and bike riding all over the world and when I saw this cool bicycle key rack it reminded me of her so much. She's my little bike riding baby!

This key hanger is hand made from high grade steel. It comes with 4 hooks to organize everybody's keys in the household and with two mounting holes already in the rack. All you have to do is supply your own hardware!

I Want: Mystery Braid Wrist Band

These Mystery Braid Wrist Bands sure are a mystery as I cannot figure out how Goodson Leatherworks makes them. These are great unisex wrist bands that are stylish but unobtrusive. Some of them even have stamped decorations on them.

Made of Clay Ceramics

I'm a hardcore True Blood fan. I got hooked this past summer when I was watching Netflix movies in order to pass time. It's such a great show. Ever since then between the Twilight craze and the True Blood craze every single time I see something vampire themed I go nuts.

For instance, this made to order vampire bite mug from Made of Clay Ceramics totally gets me going. You can put any saying from the hit tv show on the mug. If you have a favorite one liner all you need to do is tell the businesses in the notes at checkout what you want it to say. The mug will include the words True Blood with fang holes on the back and a fang bite mark out of the side and whichever saying you want on the front with fang holes. I want my True Blood mug!

Fyrestorm Creations is in the Box!

I got two cute cookie wind glass charms in this month’s TLBB from Fyrestorm Creations. They were so cute that I had to check out their website. I clicked on the animal earrings hoping to find some penguins, but no such luck. However, aren’t these Garden Snails adorable?

Mama K's Aromatic Play Clay

This is another fun business that I wish I had gotten around to writing about sooner. It would have made an absolute perfect Christmas gift for the child in your life or even a fun stocking stuffer. Obviously I can't sit here all day posting my finds. Darn!

At Mama K's Aromatic Play Clay located locally in Seattle, you'll find scented clay that children both young and old would love to play with. All of the clays are made in a gluten free facility. No worries there! Those of you with gluten allergies don't have to be alarmed. These are safe to play with. Mama K's Aromatic Play Clay is a 100% natural modeling clay made using only certified gluten free flours and organic essential oils. No synthetics, no artificial dyes, nothing but natural. They feel absolutely great to play with.

I want to play with the sweet orange scented clay! That sounds right up my alley! Both children and adults benefit from the tactile and olfactory magnificence of this clay. Knead, mold and shape your cares away. Great for long phone calls, or when you need patience from jittery babes.

Did you know..

You can follow both The Little Black Box, Handmade Guru, and Whiff and Sniff Candles on Facebook? Those are all three of my businesses and I update stuff every single day on my Facebook. I've sort of moved off Twitter and am now broadcasting a live feed of the Handmade Guru posts on Facebook. It works wonders and keeps you up to date on fun shopping stuff!

Silver Canyons

I'm starting to get antsy now that today is Nutcracker Day. What? Nutcracker Day? The kids called me on the phone this morning to tell me that today is Nutcracker Day. I was confused and they explained that they opened up their advent calender today and inside was a nutcracker. They proceeded to tell me that there's only 2 days until Christmas Eve. I can't believe it's already upon us.

Too bad I didn't write about Silver Canyons sooner. I bet a few of you would have shopped for some of their really cool pieces had I. Don't count them out though. You can still purchase for yourself! I found some enamel earrings that are blue green and I wanted them almost instantly. Then again I almost want every single item in the whole shop. Those are my favorite kind of jewelry shops though!

Beer drinkers and belt wearers unite! I have the most amazing gift idea right here!

At Metalogical you can find yourself that works not only at keeping your jeans where they are supposed to be up also serves as a bottle opener! No matter where you are people will need you if the opener is missing. You will serve a great conversation piece! A great ice breaker! Just lift up your shirt and offer to open your friends beer. You wanted a way into the cool crowd and this is your ticket!

I like the rust colored buckle. Each buckle begins life as a piece of 3/16” steel. The 3” blank is heated in a forge to 2300 degrees and shaped on the anvil. The circular opener is hot cut with a handmade chisel and shaped meticulously with a hammer. It is then bent in a press, welded, cleaned and detailed to perfection, and sprayed with a durable clear coat and our RUST patina.

Well, a few weeks ago I officially nailed down my favorite bath bomb company but then one of my readers wrote me and told me that if I thought Capella's Garden was amazing and strong then I should check out Bathgasm. I headed straight to their Etsy shop and while I admit that they do appear to look great I still think that Capella's holds my award for best bath bombs. I will however give Bathgasm a chance and see if they can knock my current leader out of the way.

The thing I like the most about the appearance of the Bathgasm bombs is that they are so brightly colored. I like my bath products to be playful and fun looking and these are totally fun! They also offer a ton of foody scents which is also right up my alley. I'm not a floral, clean scent person. I want to smell like cupcakes darn it!

The candy cane and the hot cocoa ones are totally festive. These would have made a great stocking stuffers but it's a tad too late now. You can still order year round for fun baths though!

Beadin' by the Sea

I've been absolutely swamped and haven't had time to get to my blog yet but I made a few minutes available to at least get one entry too. I'm looking forward to taking a little break from life next week. I will be still blogging however I'm going to be not focusing on work so much. I need to relax a bit!

I found Beadin' by the Sea last week when I was looking for shops that are local to me. The designs are all super simple just like I like them. Remember, less is more for me! I don't need a bunch of beads, or stones! Clean lines and sterling silver just do it for me.

So, which item does it for me at Beadin' by the Sea? These Swarovski Crystal Sterling Silver earrings totally do! I love how all the little crystals are bunched up and appear to be one big crystal. They also have a bit of a dangle which is playful and fun.

I Want: FUN BADGE - Retractable Reel ID Badge Holder - CUTE COW

I hardly ever wear my badge at work, but I do know some people who use these retractable holders. Most are pretty plain and boring, but no this Cute Cow one from NancyM4 & JKK Crafts. This would add a little brightness to a dreary office.

Ricki’s Pick of the Week: Snowman BB Gun Card from Barley & Bailey

Last month, my husband and I went to a craft fair at the high school closest to our house. We found this table full of hilarious Christmas cards by Barley & Bailey and purchased the variety pack of 24 cards (there were more there than on their website). All of the cards are great, but the Snowman BB Gun one is definitely one of my favorites. We’re giving this to my father-in-law who loves the movie A Christmas Story.

Many of us are shopping not only for gifts this holiday season but also for the perfect thing to wear to Christmas and New Years Eve. Once you find something that makes you happy it's time for find the most mind blowing accessories. Accessories pull everything together and compliment whatever it is your wearing.

At Pere you'll find that not only is each bag custom made but also made to order, providing the fashionista with something that is specifically designed for them. I think that their black pinch cuff clutch is absolutely perfect for New Years Even. Every girl needs a little something to stash stuff in and this would go with just about anything you pick to wear that night.

I'm in big trouble. I just discovered that Ella Dean has spin off shops with different products in them. The labels are cute and the products look even better. Why oh why do I have to have this terrible addiction to bath and body products. It's entirely too out of control!

Spookieville is one of the spin off shops. Their Vegan Ice Cream soap is totally calling my name! I want one of each of them but in particular I want Vampire Soccer Mom and Mariska the Cake Baker's cream soap. Both of those scents look right up my alley!

Ice Cream Soap is so creamy, with a light soft lather & texture, you will feel so pampered using this. It contains moisturizing sweet almond oil, olive oil & vitamin E for a beautiful feel to your skin. You and your children will be excited to take a bath now!

Groovy Tip: Keep your ice cream soap in the freezer like real ice cream for a cool, refreshing addition to your shower & baths. Watch out for hungry sleepwalkers though...

Peanut Butter Dynamite

All my butterfly lovers need to gather around for this one. I know there's more then one of you. I went through a stage where everything I purchased was butterfly this or that. Sure I was 10 years younger and most likely in high school but still.

At Peanut Butter Dynamite you'll find these crochet rugs in all different styles. When I first same them I thought they'd be perfect for a nursery or a toddler's room. The butterfly rug caught my eye immediately and I thought about how great it would be in a teenagers room who has a butterfly theme going on. So girly!

It measures to 34.5" wide and 23' high and we used black, a rustic orange and some white pop. I love the colors and I wonder if it could also be created in other colors depending on where you're going to use it. I bet you could just email the owner of the business and inquire. Handmade is so easy!

Coco and Chia

You all have $1200 just sitting around right? I mean, sure. Who doesn't? Well, unfortunately for me I don't. I wish I did though! I would be going on a mad shopping spree at Coco and Chia. I would grab a few different cool items from their shop or I'd just go super big with one of their super expensive necklaces.

The Blue Peruvian Opal Necklace makes me drool. We all know how nuts I have for anything turquoise and this one seriously screams Kim. I just wish it wasn't set in gold. I have never worn gold but I think it's really growing on me the more I look at it. The gold does go nicely with the bright blue opal.

This high dome cabochon has that amazing Caribbean blue color that high quality Peruvian Opals have and is 5.1 carats. Huge!

Etsy Texas Crafters is in the Box!

One of my favorite things in this month’s TLBB was the goodie bag from Etsy Texas Crafters – it was like its own little sampler. I kept pulling out fun things from it, including stickers from Katie’s Scrap N Supplies and a note pad from Crown Bindery, both of which I immediately put to use. The store is on vacation at the moment, but when they are open, they have sell sample bags of items from their crafters. I am totally going to order one!

Home Deconomics

A year ago I ordered an amazing cherries mouse pad from HBIC and as the mouse pad started showing signs of wear and tear I went back to see if I could get another one only to see that there was nothing left in their shop. I was sad to discover that as the cherries mouse pad was pretty cute.

I discovered the other day that the business, located in Anacortes, WA, actually changed their name to Home Deconomics and that it's running full steam! I was thrilled! I'm even more thrilled that I'm now located just a short drive away. When I made my order last year I was in Phoenix.

I'm back again for a cool mouse pad and I found this Bacon and Eggs one that is super clever. I love the 1950's feel of it. I wish I could find the cherries one but this one is just as cute and I'd giggle every single time I saw it. The owner picks the best fabrics for her products. A+

Baby Loves Pink

I found out yesterday that one of my friends has peanut butter and jelly every single day on toast for breakfast. I think that's rather amusing as I have a turkey sandwich every single day for lunch. I think people fall into a line of comfort and when you're used to something you never venture away from things your comfortable with.

The topic of peanut butter and jelly reminded me of Baby Loves Pink who has these great peanut butter and jelly friendship necklaces that would be perfect for the tween in you life. Young girls have been buying friendship necklaces forever. I even had one for me and my best friend! I would have much rather had a cool one like this! With one of these in your hands you keep part for you and give the other to your bestie.

Such a great gift for your tween!

Offensive Decals

It's hard to believe that a few minutes ago I was writing about sexy sleepwear and now I'm writing about Offensive Decals. Yes, prepare yourself. These decals are full of color and most are cringe-worthy. I picked a tame one to write about but I have to admit that I did laugh at them all. I guess I like sick humor! These will not necessarily be offensive to everyone, but are far enough out there that somebody will be distraught over it. Get over it!

I got a good laugh over the Mushroom Cloud Vinyl Decal. This is just perfect for the single man in your life. Whether it's a brother, friend, or significant other you just know that when people come over and need to use the bathroom that it'll be a topic of conversation when they return. Hey, maybe you even have a girl in your life who you'll find this appropriate for!

This mushroom cloud measures 8.5"w X 10"h and is displayed in Black, but can be done in any of our colors, so PLEASE specify which color you'd like at checkout.

Often it's hard for us women to find something comfortable to wear to bed. Guys have it so easy. Most just jump into their boxers and crawl in but as a woman you have to wear a little something. At least I do! When you have young kids you find yourself sometimes up with them at night if they have a bad dream or when they need something to drink so I have to be covered up. I also never know when I'm going to have someone crawl in bed with me.

At Sandmaiden, which is made right here in Seattle, I found the cutest princess seam camisole with molded stretch triangle cups and adjustable straps. Match that with a pair of their trimmed panties or flutter panties and you have something super comfortable to wear at night.

This comes in a variety of sizes and colors and just looks as comfortable as can be. Surprise yourself with comfort!
