Promos In A Snap

The Little Black Box recently got a make over. Actually, it was more of a reformat. Since then there has been many amazing things going on over on the site and lots of cool things happening. I've reconnected with everything that I love and enjoy doing. I feel great when I get out of bed in the morning and I've had lots of ideas as to where I want to go with the box site.

I found Promos In A Snap on Etsy and asked this shop to create a sticker for me that would be placed on the front of the new bags that we have to put our promo items in. The stickers arrived about a week ago and we started placing them on the bags immediately. They look super cool and were priced very reasonably. They even gave me their professional opinion on next time making the stickers a little big bigger so that they fit the bags better. I totally agree. It's all an evolution of learning. It's wonderful!

If you're looking for promo items like buttons, magnets, stickers, business cards or anything of this sort you should contact Promos In A Snap and tell them that The Little Black Boxes sent you. You'll be glad you did!

Lucky Fiona

Lucky Coco. Coco Keane is a spoiled rotten kitty. I had some money in my paypal account and purchased an adorable collar for my baby girl. I think it's funny that my husband and I are obsessed with our cat. In our eyes she's the most perfect beautiful cat I know. We are lucky we don't have a bratty cat that takes after her parents.

I used to laugh when I would see people spoiling their animals. I'd chuckle when I saw how obsessed they were and how much money they blew. Now, I'm that person. I just spent nearly 15 dollars with shipping and handling to get a collar from Lucky Fiona custom made for my baby. I love the cherries on the material and the little cherry charm. She's going to be so HOT!

They are quite a busy shop on Etsy and it looks like they sell a ton each day. If you are looking to be a little nutty like me, go shop on Lucky Fiona and find something cool for your pet too!

Christmas in July Buys

Ok, so I'm dying to share my purchases with you from Christmas in July. I picked up a ton of stuff and spent a small fortune. I can't wait for all of the stuff to arrive. Here is what I got!

I purchased a very nifty looking key chain from Early Bird Creations. It consists of a collection of resin beads strung onto white cotton cord. I've been looking for a cool key chain as I don't have one and there's nothing better then supporting a hip new business. Plus they are in Australia! If anyone compliments me I can tell them about how my key chain traveled over oceans to get to me. I love that! While I was shopping Early Bird Creations I also picked up some earrings which made up of aqua marine bone beads and silver plated leaves. I love this shop!

I then wandered over to Designed by RJ and picked up a couple more pairs of earrings. These one are cool because they are chunky turquoise nuggets and square freshwater pearls dangling from sterling earwires. Gotta get the turquoise in there somehow! It's my color this season. I also managed to place her cool new vibrant dangly earrings from her Color Theory line in my basket as well. Ahh, such is life!

I posted yesterday about my purchases from Jessica Doyle. Yep, I'm a naughty gal with a sick sense of humor. Shoot me. These are going to be fab on my walls. Like Kathy Griffin says, Suck it! If you can't appreciate the naughtiness then you can't appreciate life. Naughty naughty Jessica Doyle. I love you!

I managed to pick up a few gifts for a good friend of mine that just had a baby girl at T & Little S Designs. These two onesies will make the little boys drool. Thankfully I got them sized 18 months so when she's toddling around here in a year she'll be a walking advertisement for all things cool at T & Little S Designs.

I also picked up some little Pink Baby Bootie soaps from Sugarlane Soaps. It was buy one get one at their shop so I threw in some glazed donuts soaps for the twins. Hopefully they won't try to eat them. I'm evil.

I'm a sad sad girl as I guess purchasing 3 pairs of earrings wasn't enough for me. I just had to purchase another pair at Spirit of Silver and 2 more pairs at Luv 2 Have. I'm an earring whore! The more the better! Now, if only I could find somewhere to store all of my earrings.. hmm.. better start looking on Etsy for that!

Finally I picked up one last thing. An amazingly cool print from 3 Lamb Designs titled Little Pink Bells. This print reminds me of home and the cherry blossom trees that bloom in the spring time all over Western Washington. Man, I missed that this year. I bet they were beautiful. At least now I'll have something to look at when I miss that time of year.

That sums up my purchases for the day. It was a blast! I hope you picked up lots of great stuff too!

Magnifique

Who needs a bath?! I stumbled upon Magnifique over the weekend during our Christmas in July promotion and I fell in love with the shop. I especially love the vibrant color of all the pictures they have.

Don't the bath bombs make you want to buy some? I'm holding back! I'm being strong! My twins love these babies in their bath and I'm always stocking up on them when I find a new business that makes me lust after them. My husband likes to steal their bath bombs but maybe if I just go purchase ones in his favorite earthy scents like Nag Champa then perhaps he'll keep his hands off the Cotton Candy scented ones.

It's a new business and we all know how much I like new businesses. Check them out! Send me a review. I'd love to hear what you think about these!

Bad Girl

I'm a bad girl. Because of the internet being down I didn't blog this morning. I meant to blog all day and just couldn't get into my groove because I'm so used to blogging 1st thing in the morning.

I'll be back with lots of blogs for tomorrow!
Internet has been down since 8:30 last night. Just came back. Woot!

Jessica Doyle

I must have been in a naughty mood over the weekend. First I'm picking up naughty buttons and then I started buying naughty art.

Jessica Doyle is one of my most favorite artists on Etsy right now. Her artwork is very futuristic. I love all the vibrant colors and shapes.

I can't wait to hear my friends and families reaction to these two pieces of art that I bought. They are SO going in my entry way for everyone to see! I'll totally keep you up to date on the reactions that I get. Maybe even the mail man will appreciate them when he comes to pick up my black boxes monthly. He may blush, but heck, it's all good! If you want to make your friends and family blush like me go see if Jessica Doyle has something for you!

Buttonhead

I ran into Buttonhead while chatting with all the ladies on Etsy in our special chat room that was created over the weekend for Christmas in July. She has the most fabulous buttons and they can be made into magnets too!

I picked up a few naughty buttons for my husband as a stocking stuffer. Shhh, don't tell him! Buttonhead had me cracking up in whispers and seems like such a doll. If her customer service is anything like the customer service she gave me then you'll have a ball with her too!

Check out Butthead.. I'm totally leaving that typo. I really typed that as I was typing too quickly!

Let's start over. Check out BUTTONHEAD for all of your button needs!

Christmas in July - The aftermath

I love the title of this. Seriously, I feel like hurricane Christmas in July flew through my home and left me tired, cranky, emotional, excited, and did I mention tired?

Our website had over 60 people an hour views the sales. That left me feeling pretty pumped. I managed to get a few cat naps over the 36 hours or so. All and all I know the sale was VERY successful for some and not so successful for others. The people who did door prizes really got their name out there and I'd be interested in finding how how many were favorited on Etsy. I spent a small fortune but I got some really great stuff. I'll share that with out throughout the week and do my review on the item when it arrives.

People are waiting on pins and needles to find out the winners of the prizes. Next to each business will be a screen name or user name of the person who made the comment on each giveaway. That person.. and that person ONLY should email me their address and I will forward it on to the business who will then contact you to send you your prize. I trust that each business will mail your prize in a timely matter as they are all outstanding businesses!

Mu-Yin Jewelry

I wasn't planning on writing about this business and had actually never even heard of Mu-Yin Jewelry until I saw a post from this business on the forums yesterday and their avatar alone made me want to look at their shop.

I started browsing and was instantly in love with this ring. I would LOVE to purchase it too. I wish I could. It's the end of the month though and bills are more important but I so have my eye on it and want it very badly. Thank goodness for adding businesses to favorites though. I can drool over it and hope that no one purchases it before I do!

Tanner Glass

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a total wino. Let's not confuse that with Amy Winehouse though... although we both know that Wine and Winehouse probably go hand in hand.

Wine is my drug of choice. There's nothing better then a good bottle cold wine. After a few glass though I'm done and have always wanted a cool bottle stopper for the bottle. I found a neat one at Tanner Glass yesterday. What I like about these stoppers in particular is that they are hand blown and created not mass manufactured. I saw some in the past that were hand blown with that dichroic stuff in them. I wonder if Tanner Glass could create one like that for me. That'd be too cool!

Little Black Box Contest Winner

Congrats to commenter "Chris and Samantha" for the being the winner of our most recent contest on the blog. They have won a July Little Black Box and all they had to do was comment. All comments made by everyone in the past few weeks have been entries to our contest and now we have a winner!

Please email me at kim@thelittleblackboxes.com with your mailing address so that I can get one out for you!

Tomorrow bright and early boxes will go on sale. We have just about 150 of them. Lots of changes as well! The boxes are well, no longer boxes! They are instead really cool bags that we purchased which have our new logo on them. It's less waste and also much cheaper to do it this way. We are happy with the results and hope you are too! Each box will have about 15ish promo items in them and will cost 23.00 which includes shipping. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on them when you get them home. I'm pretty sure this was my most favorite round to put together.

Pleasebloom

Yay! I'm back on Etsy this morning. I'm glad that nothing was lost! Of course when I came on the first thing I saw was something I wanted.

Pleasebloom was on the front page this morning and when I saw this necklace I fell in love with it. Dang, my Christmas list is going to be HUGE! I love how it's made out of sterling silver and that it's almost made out of 4 different pieces and soldered together. Very nifty!

All of the pieces at Pleasebloom have nifty texturing on them. Go look for yourself.

I'm Sad

I have been deleted from Etsy because I sold some June boxes on their site and you are not allowed to sell an item that you haven't completely made. I didn't know their rules at the time and now I do. It really sucks because I love Etsy and lost all of my favorites and everything that was stored in my convo's.

I replied to their emails asking that my account be reactivated and that I promised to no longer sell anything and hopefully they will allow me to have my account back. I would hate to start over. :(

Bad Kim. Lesson learned.

I'M BACK!! Thank you Etsy God, Tim!

Adoration Soap

I'm obsessive with shaving. Especially since I live in the pool. I like my legs to me shiny and smooth. My husband can appreciate this. I have a staple when it comes to shaving and that's buying whipped soap. A lot of the online bath and body biz's are carrying them these days. I tend to stalk up on whipped soaps when I find one of my favorite businesses having a sale.

Recently I found whipped soaps at Adoration Soap and really like the look of them. They are also 15% off because of a sale they are having. You can pick them up in a variety of scents and they make shaving so much more easier and fun!

A little of this truly goes a long way. I like that they tend to last longer then all of the store brands of shave creams too.

Bin Hog

Bin Hog is in the July Little Black Boxes which goes on sale Friday, July 25th bright and early in the morning. I first learned of this business when Rita, the owner, emailed me to see if she could do the boxes and also join our Christmas in July sale. Of course we wanted her but even more cooler is the promo items she sent in.

In over a year of having promos delivered to my home this is quite possibly the first time something arrived that I actually really got super pumped over. The idea of this product is one that is so huge that my husband was actually thrilled to see the product and pretty much attempted to steal one from me when I wasn't looking. Luckily I managed to stop him!

Since Rita also happens to be a flight attendant she happens to see the passengers daily struggles at the airport and also on her flights. How many times have you waited for your baggage and thought you found it when it was someone else's? Don't you hate it when you grab that suitcase and go to runaway only to have it snatched out of your hands by someone else because your suitcase looks like theirs? Well Bin Hog has saved the day!

Embroidered Luggage ID Handle Wraps are made with CORDURA® 1000D fabric. They wrap around the side and top handles of roller bags. Also perfect for backpack handles, laptops cases, and anywere else you can wrap it!
They are made tough! They don't "hang" from your handles, so they won't get caught in the airport baggage handling systems.

Sherry Truitt Studios

It's no secret that I throughly enjoy Sherry Truitt Studios. Particularly I'm in love with all her crazy Spirit pieces. I've never seen anything like this and it's so funky.

Her True Blue Spirit level bracelet was seen in the August/September issue of Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion. Very impressive!

There's nothing conventional about her pieces but that's what I like about them. You know that if you wear something of hers that people will take notice and compliment you on how unique it is. Check her shop out for yourself. I'm willing to bet you'll find something in your price range that will stand out to you and everyone around you when you are showing it off.

Sailorgirl Jewelry

Sailorgirl Jewelry is known as the home of whimsical, fun, shiny happy handmade glass jewelry! That pretty much hit the nail on the head with this shop. Everything is so bright and colorful. It's fun yet sophisticated. I like many pieces in this shop but I think my favorite is the Ocean Ring bracelet.

Each bead is individually made by Sailorgirl! There is no paint on any of the beads, just glass upon glass upon glass. Each bead is 4 - 8 layers of glass. Around layer 3 I roll the bead in fine silver leaf, then encase it in more glass. When the bead is large I mash it flat so that the silver disperses. This is what gives my beads the shimmering transparency reminiscent of the ocean in sunshine.

It's so interesting to hear how it's done but so beautiful as well. It sounds like a ton of work which explains the price but at the same time it sounds very worth it.

Double Dipped Sweets

Yikes! This one is gonna be a dangerous. It's even dangerous for me just looking at all these goodies in their shop. Let's hold hands together and jump into what Double Dipped Sweets has to offer.

Personally I might fist fight you in order to get a taste of that Rice Krispy Treat Caramel Apple. Oh my word! Look how thick that baby is!?! A fresh, large Granny Smith apple is covered in smooth, soft caramel, and then bathed in white chocolate. Then, we cover it generously with marshmallows and Rice Krispy’s. Then, to top it off, we drizzle on more white and either milk or dark chocolate!

Talk about calories.. but oh so good calories! This blog entry is dangerous because I know if you haven't seen this shop before you'll want to shop now! I know I do! Check out the other kind of apples Double Dipped Sweets has to offer.
