Materal Give Away

What's this you say? Oh, another give away? Yep! That's right and this one is from Material. Material joined us in our Little Black Box this past month and sent in hip buttons as their promotional material and now I want to share with the world some more of this amazing Etsy businesses.

Up for grabs: An art zine on CD and packet of artful goodness! MATERIAL Issue 4 "Devoted to Divas" showcases mixed media and collage art with a focus on turn-of-the-century divas like Cleo de Merode and Lina Cavalieri. This 48-page zine contains tips and tricks for a variety of altered art mediums and follows Christi Miller's continuing journey to discovering the diva - and artist - within. Also included on the CD are 19 gorgeous vintage postcard images to be used in your own art. Don't like to read things on your computer? No problem! Everything on this CD can be printed out for your personal use.

To win just comment here with a few words about how you find your Inner Diva or maybe tell me about a time that you had a major Diva moment you might regret.

Such a great prize!

I run a community theatre, so I have to deal with divas all the time. Most of them are middle school girls, and sometime I have to be a diva back to them to get them to pay attention.

I had lost my job twice. Times were hard, but I began journaling and collaging to see what was going on inside of me and which direction I wanted to take in my life. I discovered making art revived my soul and helped me find that inner diva who was strong and capable.

My inner diva, keeps me entertained!
She does not surface often, but when I need her, she is ready to get things done!
I call upon her when I want to make a change in my life, when I want my house an studio to look a certain way.
She has style and class, and a lot of sass.
I love my inner diva, she is true. She is a warrior, and funy too.

How funny that you are having a Diva give away and my blog title is 'Drowning in fabric, my life as a creative diva'

This give away actually hits home a little more for me than just being a diva. I never did mixed media projects until this year when my 5 year old son was diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Using art was, and still is, a huge part of his therapy. Many great etsy artists created aceo sets for my son to use as 'markers' for stories and learning emotions. Seeing art in a new light, as a means to heal my child - I just had to start making aceos too. Now, we make art together - he doesn't yell or hit or scream. We just sit and create and it is wonderful to be able to be near him in such a calm and positie way.

So to me, sometimes being a diva means more than just knowing what you want - sometimes it means doing whatever it takes for your family or for your kids. Sometimes it even means sitting on the rug in your old blue jeans with sticky glue fingers and paper scraps in your hair...

I'm not so much of a diva. I can't even think of any diva moments I've had. Maybe I need to fix that.
